The NOAA Teacher at Sea Program sends teachers out to sea on NOAA research vessels. Teachers play an active role in research carried out on board, gain valuable experience about how science is really done, and are given tools to translate that new knowledge into better classroom teaching. NOAA's recent partnership with the North Gulf of Alaska Long Term Ecological Research Project has increased the number of opportunities available to Alaskan teachers. In this session Mark Van Arsdale and Cara Nelson will share their experience working on the R/V Tiglax, as part of the North Gulf of Alaska Long Term Ecological Monitoring Program. Come learn how to apply to this amazing program, and the potential benefits to you and your classroom.
